When the story of this class is written, it opens with Devin Culp at the 198th overall pick, a reach of 106 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. On value alone, Hadden makes the weekend a net positive. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Quantity was the play, for better or worse.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
Troy Fautanu at the Round 1 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A straight-up fair deal on Braden Fiske at the 55th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Mohamed Kamara in No. 108, miles early. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A slide stopped in slot 158, with Luke McCaffrey worth more than the price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Walter Rouse at pick No. 177 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Kamal Hadden at the 184th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Devin Culp at the 198th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Josh Proctor at No. 241 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
