New England Patriots

The Patriots finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a C+.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Patriots spent their marquee pick on Garrett Nussmeier, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. It nets out a thoroughly average C+.

They are betting Trigg proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Golday at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through wide receiver.

In the end, a coin-flip class: fine today, with a wide range of outcomes ahead.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.31 · Pick 31 · Garrett Nussmeier · QB · rank 79
In the 31st overall pick they get their guy under center for the next decade, a steep price for the projection.
R2.31 · Pick 63 · Michael Trigg · TE · rank 115
A big swing on Michael Trigg at slot 63, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R3.31 · Pick 95 · Jake Golday · OLB · rank 59
Circle this one: Jake Golday at pick 95 is a fall that decides a draft. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R4.25 · Pick 125 · Markel Bell · OT · rank 112
They let Markel Bell come to them and pounced at Round 4, Pick 25. The roster fit checks out.
R4.31 · Pick 131 · Taurean York · LB · rank 117
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Taurean York in No. 131. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R5.31 · Pick 171 · Nate Boerkircher · TE · rank 160
Nate Boerkircher at the Round 5 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A need, and now a little less of one.
