There is conviction, and then there is this. The Dolphins took Logan Lee a full 28 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. They banked enough surplus on Lovett to cover a lot of smaller sins.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
Troy Fautanu in Round 1, Pick 22 is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Ladd McConkey at the Round 2 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Zak Zinter in pick No. 121 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It fills a real need, too.
Justin Eboigbe in the 123rd overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A big swing on Mason McCormick at No. 127, well ahead of any board in the building. A need, and now a little less of one.
Kitan Oladapo at pick 136 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A minor itch, scratched.
Logan Lee in the 184th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Erick All in Round 6, Pick 13 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Circle this one: Fabien Lovett at slot 203 is a fall that decides a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Somehow Johnny Dixon was still sitting there in pick No. 210, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
