Start where it matters. The Patriots took Jayden Daniels to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. The bottom line is a respectable B+.
The Simpson pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. The Hartman reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 3rd overall pick they get the arm they will build around. A real need, handled.
Ladd McConkey in the Round 2 slot is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
The board fumbled Cooper Beebe all the way to pick 68, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They robbed the room for Blake Corum here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A cornerback of that caliber at the 180th pick is the definition of value, full stop. A minor itch, scratched.
Tahj Washington in No. 207 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They reached a country mile for Sam Hartman at pick No. 231, and the board is aghast. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Garret Greenfield in Round 7, Pick 19 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
