The Dolphins went off the board in a big way for Barryn Sorrell, 147 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another.
That Fitzgerald pick is the receipt they will wave around later. Jaxson Dart is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman.
If Jaxson Dart and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 13 they get the face of the franchise, a steep price for the projection. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Value said wait; Donovan Jackson in pick 48 says they were not listening. A need, and now a little less of one.
They will replay Tate Ratledge at pick No. 98 for years; that is how good the value is. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Quinshon Judkins at the Round 4 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Nothing to complain about; Kyren Lacy went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Barryn Sorrell well ahead of where he belonged. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Barrett Carter in Round 5, Pick 17 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A straight-up fair deal on Miles Frazier at the 224th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Steal is underselling it; Ryan Fitzgerald at the Round 7 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Ollie Gordon II in No. 252, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
