This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Ja'Quinden Jackson, the No. 161 name on the board, stolen at pick No. 252.
If Thornton Jr. pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 13 they get a go-to option on the outside, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They will replay Omarion Hampton at the 48th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Nothing to complain about; Jake Majors went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Value with a capital V on Smael Mondon Jr. in pick 114, a genuine coup. It fills a real need, too.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at No. 133 is the definition of value, full stop. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Value said wait; Dont'e Thornton Jr. in slot 149 says they were not listening. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Taking Rylie Mills in the 154th pick is close to grand larceny; an interior defensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
By-the-book stuff, Davison Igbinosun at pick No. 224 squarely in line with his ranking. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Miles Frazier at pick No. 231 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They robbed the room for Ja'Quinden Jackson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A need, and now a little less of one.
