This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Smael Mondon Jr., the No. 98 name on the board, stolen at the Round 7 slot.
Griffith has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get an island corner at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
Tyler Booker at No. 48 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Taking Gunnar Helm in the 98th pick is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Kevin Winston Jr. in slot 114 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Danny Stutsman at Round 4, Pick 32 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It fills a real need, too.
They barely believed it either: Jake Majors still on the board at the 149th overall pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Devin Neal in pick 154 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The roster fit checks out.
The board fumbled Smael Mondon Jr. all the way to pick No. 224, and they scooped it up. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Thor Griffith in Round 7, Pick 15, miles early. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Jimmy Horn Jr. at pick No. 252 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
