Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Khalid Duke at pick No. 252 is 40 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
Landing Cowing that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 32 they get a true top target. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Christian Haynes at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Dadrion Taylor-Demerson at Round 3, Pick 32. A minor itch, scratched.
Ben Sinnott at No. 132 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A wide receiver of that caliber at the 181st overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They went early on Jared Wiley in the 193rd pick, and the value did not follow. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Ryan Flournoy in slot 231 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
