Priorities are a choice, and the Cowboys made a strange one, taking Justin Eboigbe at edge rusher in the 132nd pick with wide receiver, offensive lineman and other spots crying out for the pick instead. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Murphy II falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Every board in the league had Ford lower, and that gap is the story.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 32 they get a downhill hitter at safety. More want than need.
Byron Murphy II is a better player than No. 56 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
No drama and no debate, TreVeyon Henderson went about where he belonged in the 87th pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They liked Khyree Jackson enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 99. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Darius Robinson at Round 4, Pick 24 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A curious use of slot 132. Wide receiver, offensive lineman and other spots needed the pick; an edge rusher in Justin Eboigbe did not.
The board had cheaper options than Jaylan Ford at pick No. 174, and it noticed. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
