The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Dolphins watched Johnny Dixon slide 39 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
Anderson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.
Add it up and this is about as clean as a draft weekend gets.
Pick-by-Pick
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Cooper Beebe at slot 55. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A straight-up fair deal on Ruke Orhorhoro at the Round 3 slot, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Good price on Kitan Oladapo in the 158th pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Erick All in the 180th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Myles Cole at pick 184 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Julian Pearl at slot 198 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Somehow Johnny Dixon was still sitting there in pick No. 231, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Evan Anderson. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
