They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: DeVere Levelston, 107 picks early at pick No. 257.
Everything downstream of J.J. McCarthy depends on J.J. McCarthy, and the building knows it. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
If J.J. McCarthy and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 18 they get their quarterback of the future. The biggest hole, addressed.
Kool-Aid McKinstry in pick No. 24 is fair value, right on his grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A straight-up fair deal on Christian Mahogany at slot 100, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Anthony Gould at No. 139 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It fills a real need, too.
The board had cheaper options than Tanor Bortolini at the Round 5 slot, and it noticed. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A big swing on Decamerion Richardson at the 256th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
This one needs a full-page explanation: DeVere Levelston in No. 257, miles early. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
