This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Isaiah Williams, the No. 218 name on the board, stolen at Round 7, Pick 19. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. They will answer for taking DT-EDGE early while edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots went begging. The roster is better shaped than it was, with running back chief among the fixes.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 23 they get a building block for the line. A clean fit for the roster.
By-the-book stuff, Jackson Powers-Johnson at pick No. 58 squarely in line with his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went DT-EDGE with Maason Smith while clear needs at edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots sat open.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Kris Abrams-Draine in the 123rd pick. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
James Williams in slot 126 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Malik Washington in the Round 5 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
You do not let a wide receiver like Isaiah Williams reach pick 239 and blink. They did not. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They let Cody Schrader come to them and pounced at Round 7, Pick 27. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
