Nobody had LaDarius Henderson this high, and it is not close. The Packers reached 82 spots to get him at the 202nd overall pick. It nets out a thoroughly average C+.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
So much rides on Cooper DeJean that the real verdict is a season or two away.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a lockdown presence outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Edgerrin Cooper in pick No. 41 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They reached into another round for Roger Rosengarten, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They paid sticker price for MarShawn Lloyd in No. 88, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Caedan Wallace at pick 91 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It fills a real need, too.
They paid up for Kitan Oladapo at slot 126 when waiting would have done the job. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Evan Williams at pick No. 169 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
This one needs a full-page explanation: LaDarius Henderson in Round 6, Pick 27, miles early. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Tylan Grable in pick 219 is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Michael Barrett at the Round 7 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
They talked themselves into Josh Wallace at No. 255, and the board did not agree. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
