They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Caleb Williams is the Vikings' quarterback, full stop.

Simpson at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. Bortolini has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.11 · Pick 11 · Caleb Williams · QB · rank 2
In slot 11 they get their quarterback of the future, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.20 · Pick 52 · Braden Fiske · DL · rank 53
Braden Fiske at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R3.37 · Pick 100 · Cedric Gray · LB · rank 126
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Cedric Gray well ahead of where he belonged. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R4.9 · Pick 109 · Mekhi Wingo · DT · rank 113
No drama and no debate, Mekhi Wingo went about where he belonged in No. 109. A need, and now a little less of one.
R5.20 · Pick 156 · Roger Rosengarten · OT · rank 146
Roger Rosengarten is a better player than pick 156 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R5.30 · Pick 166 · Tanor Bortolini · C · rank 217
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Tanor Bortolini. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R6.4 · Pick 179 · Javion Cohen · OG · rank 168
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Javion Cohen at Round 6, Pick 4. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R6.15 · Pick 190 · Fabien Lovett · DL · rank 145
Fabien Lovett at the 190th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R6.18 · Pick 193 · Jaylin Simpson · CB · rank 135
Circle this one: Jaylin Simpson at slot 193 is a fall that decides a draft. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
