They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Caleb Williams is the Vikings' quarterback, full stop.
Simpson at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. Bortolini has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 11 they get their quarterback of the future, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
Braden Fiske at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Cedric Gray well ahead of where he belonged. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
No drama and no debate, Mekhi Wingo went about where he belonged in No. 109. A need, and now a little less of one.
Roger Rosengarten is a better player than pick 156 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
