The phones were a trap the Chiefs kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal.
Majors has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The whole projection now runs through Cam Ward; hit there and everything else looks smarter.
They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Henderson value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.

Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 3 they get their guy under center for the next decade. A clean fit for the roster.
In No. 31 they get a red-zone target to build around, reach and all. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Emeka Egbuka at Round 2, Pick 1 is the proof. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A tidy bit of business in slot 40, where Jack Sawyer graded well above the range. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Quinshon Judkins at the Round 2 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The roster fit checks out.
JT Tuimoloau in pick 66 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They reached a country mile for Jake Majors at the 68th overall pick, and the board is aghast. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
TreVeyon Henderson at the 95th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
