The Patriots treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending No. 46 on Mykel Williams a full 101 spots early. The bottom line is a respectable B+.
The Judkins steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class.
Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
They barely believed it either: Malaki Starks still on the board at the Round 2 slot. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Mykel Williams at No. 46 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A tidy bit of business in slot 48, where Luther Burden III graded well above the range. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Tyler Warren at pick 72 is the proof. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Emery Jones Jr.. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Donovan Jackson in the 86th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Circle this one: Deontae Lawson at pick No. 108 is a fall that decides a draft. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Taking Quinshon Judkins in the 144th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A big swing on Oscar Delp at Round 7, Pick 4, well ahead of any board in the building. It fills a real need, too.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jason Henderson in the Round 7 slot, miles early. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Rod Moore at No. 239 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
