You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Packers did exactly that with Mohamed Kamara in No. 91. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
Benson falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get a sticky cover corner. The biggest hole, addressed.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Graham Barton at slot 41. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Tyler Guyton reach Round 2, Pick 26 and blink. They did not. A need, and now a little less of one.
Malachi Corley at No. 88 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The roster fit checks out.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Mohamed Kamara this early at pick 91. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Trey Benson at the Round 4 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Taking Roger Rosengarten in No. 169 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Somehow Ty'Ron Hopper was still sitting there in slot 202, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They barely believed it either: Steele Chambers still on the board at pick No. 219. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Steal is underselling it; Evan Williams at the 245th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Value said wait; Carter Bradley in Round 7, Pick 35 says they were not listening. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
