Thirty-one other rooms let Jaden Crumedy slide, and the Chiefs were the ones holding the card at pick 252. Highway robbery. No fireworks, but a solid B.
They will answer for taking cornerback early while tight end, quarterback and other spots went begging. For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 32 they get a building block for the line at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Keon Coleman slipping to the 48th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
The board had Khyree Jackson higher than pick No. 95, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Of all the spots to shop, they chose cornerback. Josh Newton in slot 131 leaves tight end, quarterback and other spots for later.
Anthony Gould at No. 159 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Nice patience on Isaiah Davis, who had no business lasting to the 172nd overall pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Jaden Crumedy in the Round 7 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It does not line up with the team's obvious holes.
