Thirty-one other rooms let Devin Neal slide, and the Commanders were the ones holding the card at the 182nd overall pick. Highway robbery.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up.
Bottom line, with Graham Barton leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick-by-Pick
A tidy bit of business in the 36th pick, where Graham Barton graded well above the range. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A quiet steal in Round 2, Pick 5: Jared Verse for less than the market said. The roster fit checks out.
Zak Zinter at the Round 3 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Tommy Eichenberg at slot 104 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
The board had Khyree Jackson higher than No. 141, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
