Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs turned the phones into found money: B.

Future B-

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Chiefs reached some 63 spots for Alfred Collins, and value like that does not grow back. No fireworks, but a solid B.

They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want. However the rest shakes out, Simmons at that price is a win they earned.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.16 · Pick 48 · Josh Simmons · OT · rank 29
Josh Simmons in the Round 2 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R2.32 · Pick 64 · Luke Kandra · OG · rank 74
A premium they did not need to pay, Luke Kandra a notch or two before his time. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R3.12 · Pick 76 · T.J. Sanders · DT · rank 69
T.J. Sanders at pick No. 76 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R3.15 · Pick 79 · Jayden Higgins · WR · rank 122
Jayden Higgins in the 79th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R3.34 · Pick 98 · Dani Dennis-Sutton · DE-EDGE · rank 119
Dani Dennis-Sutton at the 98th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R3.36 · Pick 100 · Ozzy Trapilo · OT · rank 100
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Ozzy Trapilo. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R4.14 · Pick 115 · Jack Bech · WR · rank 149
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jack Bech well ahead of where he belonged. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R4.32 · Pick 133 · Cobee Bryant · CB · rank 152
Cobee Bryant at pick 133 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R5.20 · Pick 158 · Alfred Collins · DL · rank 221
They talked themselves into Alfred Collins at Round 5, Pick 20, and the board did not agree. It fills a real need, too.
R7.40 · Pick 254 · Savion Williams · WR · rank 300
A real head-scratcher, Savion Williams in the 254th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
