Washington Commanders

The steal of the weekend belongs to the Commanders and Fitzgerald: B-.

Somebody in slot 238 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Commanders sat still while Ryan Fitzgerald, the No. 117 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

The Harris pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.29 · Pick 29 · Tre Harris · WR · rank 48
In pick No. 29 they get a go-to option on the outside, a steep price for the projection. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.29 · Pick 61 · Aireontae Ersery · OT · rank 47
A quiet steal in the Round 2 slot: Aireontae Ersery for less than the market said. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R3.15 · Pick 79 · TreVeyon Henderson · RB · rank 55
TreVeyon Henderson in the 79th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R5.9 · Pick 148 · Kevin Winston Jr. · S · rank 104
You do not let a safety like Kevin Winston Jr. reach No. 148 and blink. They did not. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R6.29 · Pick 207 · Smael Mondon Jr. · LB · rank 110
Smael Mondon Jr. at slot 207 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R7.20 · Pick 238 · Ryan Fitzgerald · PK · rank 117
They barely believed it either: Ryan Fitzgerald still on the board at pick 238. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
R7.32 · Pick 250 · Garrett Dellinger · OG · rank 269
Garrett Dellinger at Round 7, Pick 32 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
