Thirty-one other rooms let Wyatt Milum slide, and the Commanders were the ones holding the card at the Round 6 slot. Highway robbery. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Henderson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 15 they get a premier pass rusher at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
They liked TreVeyon Henderson enough to skip the value, taking him in the 34th overall pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Somehow Deone Walker was still sitting there in pick No. 47, and they pounced on premier interior defensive lineman value. It fills a real need, too.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Sebastian Castro in slot 66. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Kaimon Rucker at the Round 3 slot is the proof. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Taking Luke Lachey in the 98th pick is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Trey Zuhn III in No. 130, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Wyatt Milum at pick 162 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Justin Walley at the 183rd pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
