When the story of this class is written, it opens with Akheem Mesidor at Round 7, Pick 32, a reach of 138 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
The Skattebo steal is the beam this whole class leans on. That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a matchup problem out wide, though the board says they badly overpaid. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They will replay Jihaad Campbell at the 61st pick for years; that is how good the value is. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They robbed the room for Malaki Starks here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A straight-up fair deal on Jabbar Muhammad at the 148th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jared Wilson in pick No. 207 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Cam Skattebo in Round 7, Pick 20, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Akheem Mesidor at the Round 7 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.
