After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Commanders committed. Jayden Daniels is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
They are betting Amegadjie proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Knight.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 2 they get their quarterback of the future at fair value. A real need, handled.
A straight-up fair deal on Ennis Rakestraw Jr. at pick 36, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They reached a country mile for Kiran Amegadjie at No. 40, and the board is aghast. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They took Kingsley Suamataia at par in the Round 3 slot, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A clean, defensible pick in Round 3, Pick 14 with a little surplus value in Jeremiah Trotter Jr.. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Khyree Jackson in the 100th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Mason McCormick in the 139th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Braiden McGregor in pick No. 152 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Nice patience on Tyrice Knight, who had no business lasting to the Round 7 slot. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
