Call it larceny. Carson Schwesinger sat on the board until the 202nd pick, and the Commanders did not need to be asked twice. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
Williams has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They left with tight end solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 27 they get a problem off the edge. A clean fit for the roster.
They talked themselves into Donovan Jackson at Round 2, Pick 28, and the board did not agree. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Tyler Warren at the 79th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Steal is underselling it; Sonny Styles at the Round 5 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Carson Schwesinger in slot 202, plain and simple. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They reached a country mile for Gentry Williams at pick 236, and the board is aghast. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Garrett Dellinger in No. 246 is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
