The trade table was a mismatch, and the Commanders were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. It holds up to a second look, which is why it earns the A.
On value alone, Mondon Jr. makes the weekend a net positive. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end.
Add it up and this is about as clean as a draft weekend gets.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 5th pick they get a long-term starter on the line. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Evan Stewart slid further than he should have, and slot 34 is lovely value for the wide receiver. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They paid a round early for TreVeyon Henderson in pick 37, more than the board wanted. It fills a real need, too.
Tate Ratledge at the Round 3 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Jaeden Roberts is a better player than the 98th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Smael Mondon Jr. at No. 130 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
No drama and no debate, Jonathan Mendoza went about where he belonged in slot 162. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They barely believed it either: Billy Bowman Jr. still on the board at pick No. 183. A minor itch, scratched.
