The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Commanders watched Ollie Gordon II slide 38 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 2 they get a premier pass rusher. A real need, handled.
Emeka Egbuka at Round 2, Pick 2 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Steal is underselling it; Ollie Gordon II at pick No. 66 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
The board fumbled Blake Miller all the way to the Round 4 slot, and they scooped it up. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Malik Spencer in slot 130 is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Aubrey Burks is a better player than the 162nd overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They let Sean Martin come to them and pounced at the 183rd pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
