You could see the war room lean forward. D'Angelo Ponds at the Round 3 slot is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
Green has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 11 they get a centerfielder for the defense, and a steal at that. More want than need.
In pick No. 30 they get a matchup weapon at tight end at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Anthony Hill Jr. at No. 43 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. The roster fit checks out.
Somehow Blake Miller was still sitting there in slot 75, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They will replay D'Angelo Ponds at the 87th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Gennings Dunker at pick 90 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Germie Bernard in the 94th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
No edge and no loss on Kaleb Proctor in Round 4, Pick 30; it is a wash and a sensible one. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Taylen Green this early at the Round 5 slot. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Toriano Pride Jr. in pick No. 227 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Nice patience on Jimmy Rolder, who had no business lasting to the 238th overall pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
