It is the swing that defines the weekend: Bralen Trice in the Round 2 slot, a good 30 spots before the room expected him. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. Getting Coleman where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
They went 6 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 6th pick they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They talked themselves into Bralen Trice at the 39th overall pick, and the board did not agree. A need, and now a little less of one.
A slide stopped in No. 47, with Keon Coleman worth more than the price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A straight-up fair deal on Cooper Beebe at slot 70, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 106 with a little surplus value in Audric Estime. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They took Kalen King at par in pick 140, which is nothing to complain about. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
No edge and no loss on Jordan Travis in the 156th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
