The weekend has a hole in the middle of it named interior defensive lineman, a need the Eagles walked right past.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Owens. The Wiley pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 22 they get a disruptor off the edge at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Javon Bullard in Round 2, Pick 18 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A straight-up fair deal on Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at the 53rd pick, value and slot in agreement. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Audric Estime in pick 97 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It fills a real need, too.
Luke McCaffrey at the Round 5 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Nothing to complain about; Javion Cohen went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A tidy little value on Dwight McGlothern in the 178th overall pick, a step better than break-even. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A reach for Jared Wiley in slot 189; a little patience would have been rewarded. A need, and now a little less of one.
Tyler Owens slid further than he should have, and slot 240 is lovely value for the safety. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
