The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Giants reached some 26 spots for JD Bertrand, and value like that does not grow back. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. They banked enough surplus on Coleman to cover a lot of smaller sins. A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one.
They left with safety solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
They paid sticker price for Olumuyiwa Fashanu in pick 6, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tyler Nubin. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Keon Coleman at the Round 2 slot is the proof. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
By-the-book stuff, Bralen Trice at No. 70 squarely in line with his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Calen Bullock in the 80th overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Kalen King at slot 140 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They reached into another round for JD Bertrand, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
