Every other box got a look, but running back did not. The Texans will head to camp with the same hole they walked in with. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
Reaching for Mills left real value on the table behind him. That Colson pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
No drama and no debate, Johnny Wilson went about where he belonged in the 24th pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A tidy bit of business in the Round 2 slot, where Kalen King graded well above the range. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A straight-up fair deal on Blake Fisher at No. 95, value and slot in agreement. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
James Williams in pick 121 is fair value, right on his grade. A minor itch, scratched.
The board had Junior Colson higher than the 124th overall pick, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A reach for Zion Tupuola-Fetui in slot 158; a little patience would have been rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Rylie Mills in Round 7, Pick 20 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They took Theo Johnson at par in pick No. 242, which is nothing to complain about. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
