You can hear the double-takes from here. The Chiefs took Dallin Holker at pick No. 95, roughly 63 spots before his name belonged. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. Rosengarten falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 32nd pick they get a lockdown presence outside. More want than need.
A quiet steal in pick No. 64: Xavier Worthy for less than the market said. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A big swing on Dallin Holker at the Round 3 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board had cheaper options than Tommy Eichenberg at pick 133, and it noticed. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Value with a capital V on Roger Rosengarten in Round 5, Pick 22, a genuine coup. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Luke McCaffrey in the 172nd overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
