A franchise passer in Maye headlines a C+ weekend for the Patriots.

Start where it matters. The Patriots took Drake Maye to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. The good and the questionable cancel out to a C+.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. The Fisher reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
If Drake Maye and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 3 they get their guy under center for the next decade at fair value.
No edge and no loss on Tyler Guyton in pick 34; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A premium they did not need to pay, Roman Wilson a notch or two before his time. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A wild overpay on Blake Fisher in the 76th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Will Shipley in the 136th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. It fills a real need, too.
Josh Proctor in slot 182 is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Darius Muasau in pick No. 229. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
