When a board-topper like Elijah Jones slides to No. 239, you do not overthink it, and the Dolphins did not.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
A fair-value weekend of trading, no edge to be found.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
Nice patience on Chop Robinson, who had no business lasting to the 35th overall pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A straight-up fair deal on Kingsley Suamataia at Round 2, Pick 23, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A interior defensive lineman of that caliber at pick No. 66 is the definition of value, full stop. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They barely believed it either: DJ James still on the board at No. 105. A minor need, but a need all the same.
No drama and no debate, Mason McCormick went about where he belonged in pick 157. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Cornelius Johnson in the 186th pick is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
By-the-book stuff, Nathaniel Watson at the Round 6 slot squarely in line with his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
