There is reaching, and then there is Kyle McCord at No. 113. The Colts jumped the board by 117 and dared it to prove them wrong.
However the rest shakes out, Bowman Jr. at that price is a win they earned. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 12th pick they get a sticky cover corner at fair value.
Harold Fannin Jr. slipping to the 46th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A premium they did not need to pay, Jake Majors a notch or two before his time. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A big swing on Kyle McCord at pick No. 113, well ahead of any board in the building. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Circle this one: Nicholas Singleton at slot 150 is a fall that decides a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Billy Bowman Jr. at No. 188 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A minor itch, scratched.
The board had Jared Wilson higher than No. 228, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. A need, and now a little less of one.
