You can draft well and still miss the point. The Dolphins did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to quarterback, which was the need that mattered most. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
The King pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. If Harrell pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
A tidy bit of business in the 37th overall pick, where Troy Fautanu graded well above the range. The roster fit checks out.
Kalen King at the 53rd pick is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. A minor itch, scratched.
A slide stopped in Round 5, Pick 3, with Tommy Eichenberg worth more than the price. It fills a real need, too.
Logan Lee in the Round 5 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A tidy little value on Jaylan Ford in pick No. 186, a step better than break-even. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Jaylen Harrell in pick 199 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A straight-up fair deal on Jontrey Hunter at slot 239, value and slot in agreement. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
