The board owed the Vikings one, and it paid up: Emmanuel McNeil-Warren, the No. 51 name on the board, sitting there at the Round 3 slot like a gift left on the doorstep. Add it all up and it grades out a clean A-.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Mike Sainristil gives the group a proven body among the projects.
Safety was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
It is a haul that will look even better come September.
Pick-by-Pick
They paid sticker price for Jake Slaughter in No. 49, and that is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A tidy bit of business in Round 3, Pick 7, where Christen Miller graded well above the range. It fills a real need, too.
They let Jadarian Price come to them and pounced at slot 82. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Steal is underselling it; Emmanuel McNeil-Warren at the Round 3 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Fair-plus on Kage Casey, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A quiet steal in pick No. 196: Dae'Quan Wright for less than the market said. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Thaddeus Dixon in the 234th pick, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Zavion Thomas at pick 235 is the proof. A need, and now a little less of one.
Nothing to complain about; Fa'alili Fa'amoe went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
