Green Bay Packers

The Packers landed square in the muddy middle: C+.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Packers reached some 54 spots for Desmond Evans, and value like that does not grow back. A mixed bag that lands at C+.

The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.

So much rides on Kamren Kinchens that the real verdict is a season or two away.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Kamren Kinchens · S · rank 25
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a ballhawk on the back end. More want than need.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Edgerrin Cooper · LB · rank 61
They reached a country mile for Edgerrin Cooper at No. 41, and the board is aghast. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R2.25 · Pick 57 · Adisa Isaac · DE-EDGE · rank 68
Adisa Isaac at the 57th overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Max Melton · CB · rank 113
A big swing on Max Melton at the Round 3 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R3.29 · Pick 92 · Braelon Allen · RB · rank 105
A premium they did not need to pay, Braelon Allen a notch or two before his time. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R4.25 · Pick 125 · Javion Cohen · OG · rank 141
A reach on Javion Cohen in pick No. 125; the board had better options right there. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R4.35 · Pick 135 · Jaylin Simpson · CB · rank 143
Jaylin Simpson in Round 4, Pick 35 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R6.28 · Pick 203 · Miles Frazier · OG · rank 235
Miles Frazier in the 203rd pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R6.42 · Pick 217 · Antwaun Powell-Ryland · DL-EDGE · rank 251
They talked themselves into Antwaun Powell-Ryland at the 217th overall pick, and the board did not agree. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Desmond Evans · DL-EDGE · rank 273
Desmond Evans at pick No. 219 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R7.26 · Pick 246 · Walter Rouse · OT · rank 254
A reach for Walter Rouse in pick 246; a little patience would have been rewarded. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
