The Bears did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Davison Igbinosun fell into No. 129.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Job largely done: interior defensive lineman settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
The dealing was even money, start to finish.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get a long-term starter on the line. A real need, handled.
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren at Round 2, Pick 25 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Somehow Lee Hunter was still sitting there in the Round 3 slot, and they pounced on premier interior defensive lineman value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Good price on Connor Lew in the 89th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They robbed the room for Davison Igbinosun here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They let Tyren Montgomery come to them and pounced at the 239th pick. The roster fit checks out.
A tidy bit of business in slot 241, where Thaddeus Dixon graded well above the range. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
