This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Genesis Smith, the No. 107 name on the board, stolen at pick 129. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with interior defensive lineman the one that mattered most.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th overall pick they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value. A real need, handled.
Caleb Banks slipping to pick No. 57 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A slide stopped in the Round 2 slot, with D'Angelo Ponds worth more than the price. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Connor Lew in Round 3, Pick 25 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Genesis Smith in pick 129 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
