It is the swing that defines the weekend: Curtis Jacobs in the 136th overall pick, a good 61 spots before the room expected him.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. The Jacobs pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with interior defensive lineman, safety and other spots still on the board.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a mismatch in the passing game. A real need, handled.
Payton Wilson at Round 2, Pick 2 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A big swing on Jalen McMillan at pick No. 68, well ahead of any board in the building. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Braelon Allen at slot 102 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A curious use of No. 136. Interior defensive lineman, safety and other spots needed the pick; a linebacker in Curtis Jacobs did not.
They jumped the gun on Zion Tupuola-Fetui, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Sheridan Jones in the 231st pick is fair value, right on his grade. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jalen Coker. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
