There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Chargers started one anyway for Dallin Holker, 45 picks ahead of schedule. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. The Jones pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
They took Chop Robinson at par in pick No. 22, which is nothing to complain about. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Payton Wilson this early at the 39th pick. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Jaylen Wright at Round 2, Pick 18 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The roster fit checks out.
A reach on Brandon Dorlus in slot 71; the board had better options right there. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They did well to land Caelen Carson in pick 101, just ahead of his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Dallin Holker at No. 105 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Javon Foster at slot 110 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A reach for Justin Eboigbe in No. 138; a little patience would have been rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Christian Jones slipping to the Round 5 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A need, and now a little less of one.
