The Cardinals treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending pick 78 on Jamaree Caldwell a full 53 spots early. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Landing Nash that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 16th pick they get a building block for the line at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Fair-plus on Jihaad Campbell, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A need, and now a little less of one.
They talked themselves into Jamaree Caldwell at pick No. 78, and the board did not agree. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Will Howard at slot 114 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Nick Nash slipping to Round 5, Pick 14 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
