The Broncos clearly saw something nobody else did in Joshua Braun, taking him 28 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.
That Hill Jr. pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Linebacker was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
Somehow Anthony Hill Jr. was still sitting there in the Round 2 slot, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Darrell Jackson Jr. at pick 108. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They let Bud Clark come to them and pounced at the 111th pick. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Dallen Bentley at pick No. 170 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Daevin Hobbs at slot 246 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Josh Moten in the 256th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A minor itch, scratched.
Value said wait; Joshua Braun in slot 257 says they were not listening. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
