The rest of the league will want that one back. Cornelius Johnson tumbling to the Packers in pick 219 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
They are betting Eboigbe proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 25 they get a potential shutdown corner. Exactly the need they had to hit.
No drama and no debate, Javon Bullard went about where he belonged in pick No. 41. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Edgerrin Cooper slipping to slot 58 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A reach on Christian Mahogany in the 88th pick; the board had better options right there. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Trey Benson in the 91st overall pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A big swing on Justin Eboigbe at the Round 4 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They went early on Khristian Boyd in Round 5, Pick 33, and the value did not follow. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They liked Caedan Wallace enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 202. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Cornelius Johnson in No. 219, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Dominique Hampton is a better player than slot 245 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Edefuan Ulofoshio at the Round 7 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
