The trade table was a mismatch, and the Packers were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value.
On value alone, Lassiter makes the weekend a net positive. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end.
If Eichenberg pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
Good price on Tyler Guyton in the Round 2 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A straight-up fair deal on Chris Braswell at pick No. 41, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Cooper Beebe slipping to Round 2, Pick 26 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
The board fumbled Kamari Lassiter all the way to the 68th pick, and they scooped it up. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Trey Benson in slot 88 is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Javon Baker at pick 91 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A wild overpay on Tommy Eichenberg in the Round 4 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, James Williams at Round 5, Pick 1. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
A wide receiver of that caliber at No. 169 is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Joe Milton III. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Garret Greenfield in the 219th overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. A need, and now a little less of one.
Trevin Wallace is a better player than pick No. 245 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Tayvion Robinson at slot 255 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
