More right than wrong for the Packers, and a B- to prove it.

You can usually follow a front office's logic. This one is harder. The Packers spent pick No. 88 on Maason Smith while edge rusher, quarterback and other spots sat unaddressed. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. The Guyton pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Cooper DeJean · CB · rank 13
In the 25th pick they get a ballhawk on the outside, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Kamren Kinchens · S · rank 34
A clean, defensible pick in the 41st overall pick with a little surplus value in Kamren Kinchens. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R2.25 · Pick 57 · Tyler Guyton · OT · rank 40
The board had Tyler Guyton higher than the 57th pick, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Maason Smith · DT-EDGE · rank 87
A surprising call. With edge rusher, quarterback and other spots still to address, they spent Round 3, Pick 25 on Maason Smith, a DT-EDGE they were not short of.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Zak Zinter · OG · rank 95
They took Zak Zinter at par in No. 91, which is nothing to complain about. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R4.25 · Pick 125 · James Williams · S · rank 134
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending the Round 4 slot on James Williams with edge rusher, quarterback and other spots unsolved.
R4.35 · Pick 135 · MarShawn Lloyd · RB · rank 130
They did well to land MarShawn Lloyd in pick 135, just ahead of his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R6.28 · Pick 203 · JD Bertrand · LB · rank 195
JD Bertrand slipping to slot 203 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R6.42 · Pick 217 · Brevyn Spann-Ford · TE · rank 224
No drama and no debate, Brevyn Spann-Ford went about where he belonged in pick No. 217. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Daequan Hardy · CB · rank 225
A straight-up fair deal on Daequan Hardy at the 219th pick, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R7.26 · Pick 246 · Eric Gentry · LB · rank 251
Eric Gentry in pick No. 246 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
