The board owed the Chiefs one, and it paid up: Elijah Jones, the No. 193 name on the board, sitting there at the 252nd overall pick like a gift left on the doorstep.

Every board in the league had Solomon lower, and that gap is the story. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. The Solomon pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with quarterback and linebacker still on the board.

Few war rooms will sleep better than this one tonight.
