If confidence were a draft strategy, the Chiefs would have aced it. Eric Watts at the 176th pick is 54 spots clear of where he belonged. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
Spending an early pick on DT-EDGE with quarterback, running back and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. On value alone, Melton makes the weekend a net positive.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Adonai Mitchell is a better player than slot 41 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Patrick Paul at pick No. 67 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A straight-up fair deal on Dominick Puni at No. 88, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Max Melton in Round 3, Pick 32. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went DT-EDGE with Maason Smith while clear needs at quarterback, running back and other spots sat open.
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending the Round 4 slot on Jaylin Simpson with quarterback, running back and other spots unsolved.
A slide stopped in No. 159, with Dallin Holker worth more than the price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Eric Watts at Round 6, Pick 1 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
